Creating correct form of an icon

To create an icon, we invite three kingdoms: minerals (chalk ground, pigments, gold), plants (wood boards, canvas, wine) and animals (rabbit glue, chicken egg yolks, brush bristles).

In an icon, all this comes together and reminds us of God's presence in creation.
