The art of creating miniatures

Miniature is the art of creating under a magnifying glass - painting with tempera on paper or parchment

An art that developed in parallel with icon painting is miniature painting in handwritten books (manuscripts).

This art flourished in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, decorating codices and liturgical books.

Miniature painting is a technique of making small illustrations with tempera paints on paper or parchment using thin brushes, often using gold flakes.

A characteristic feature of miniatures is their small size and exceptional precision.
